"I grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, which was very conservative, so punk and hardcore were basically the jailbreak soundtrack in my escape from the prison of narrow minds. These songs are part of my soundtrack. My skateboard was my literal vehicle, but punk and skate culture were the vehicles that helped me understand the freedom and power of D.I.Y. creativity. My tastes have broadened artistically and musically, but the independent spirit of punk is an essence in almost everything that drives and inspires me. As Ian MacKaye said “punk is the free space”."
